Martyrs Cemetery Galicia

This location is where Turkish soldiers who fell during the battle of Galicia are buried.

After the Russian offensive in the summer of 1916, in which the Austro-Hungarian troops were defeated in Galicia, their allies sent troops to the front.

Turkey sent the XV Corps (19th and 20th Infantry Division) and by August 1916 all troops had been transferred and the Corps was complete. They took over a piece of 28 kilometers front width. The Turkish troops fought in Galicia for about a year: The 19th Division was withdrawn to Turkey in July 1917 and the 20th was withdrawn from the front on August 5 and was back in Turkey on September 26, 1917.

In total, the losses of the XV Corps were about 25,000 soldiers and 10,000 soldiers were captured by the Russians.
