Memorials Cemetery Nederhasselt

There are several memorial plaques in the cemetery, including two relating to 100 years of the Great War.

"Never war again
Ninove commemorates the "Great War" 1914-1918
and honors all victims from the twelve boroughs"

In addition, a poem by the urban primary school De Hazelaar hangs in a wreath of red poppies.
The poppy is a symbol of comfort, but also of commemoration of the dead. She owes this symbolism to the battlefields in northern France that turned red with poppies after the First World War.

Dear Soldier,
Thank you for your bravery.
Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for your combativeness.
Thank you for your tears, sweat and blood.

Your commitment and your strength have saved our homeland.
You have prevented the enemy from winning the war.

That is why we now say a sincere thank you
for all your exploits and those of all your comrades…"
