Camp Pine Valley

A former CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp in Pine Valley was taken over by the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Signal and transport companies were trained here. The Marines were also trained in fighting forest fires. A number of marines from this camp died during a forest fire in October 1943.
