California State Maritime University

California Maritime Academy was founded in 1929 and moved to its present location in Vallejo in 1940. Marine cadets were trained here during the Second World War. The academy built the training ship "Golden Bear" in 1940, which functioned as a warship from 1941. After the war the ship was returned. The ship is still being used.
