Naval Auxiliary Air Station Twentynine Palms

Naval Auxiliary Air Station Twentynine Palms was built in 1944 as an auxiliary station of NAS San Diego. Bomber crew members were trained here. The base was closed after the war, but the Navy returned in 1952 and the base has been operational ever since under the name Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.
