Memorial Albert De Seguin De Reyniès - Grenoble

Albert Ferdinand Marie Jean de Seguin de Reyniès, born August 24, 1900 in Arry in Lorraine and probably died in Grenoble May 6, 1944.
Commander of the 6th Battalion Alpine Hunters. In this position he was already head of the Secret Army in the Vercors and later, after the merger of the ORA and the AS, of the FFI in the Isère. He managed to secretly build up large stocks of weapons and material, in order to fight against the occupiers if the opportunity presented itself.
Codename: Roland
On May 6, 1944, he was arrested by the Gestapo at the Place de Verdun and transferred to their headquarters in the hotel Gambetta. He was probably interrogated, tortured and died there. His body was never found.

Awards:
Knight of the Legion of Honour
War Cross 1939-1945
French Resistance Medal with Rosette (posthumous)

After the liberation of the area, a major administrative project began to officially recognize the clandestine functions in France. De Reyniès' file is studied to conclude that he was exercising command at the level of a lieutenant colonel. He was awarded this rank posthumously on 21 November 1945.
In the absence of an actual grave, cenotaphs and plaques serve to remember the Lieutenant Colonel's memory:
On the necropolis of Saint-Nizier-de-Moucherotte, grave No. 88 bears his name
A commemorative plaque has been placed on the wall of the Hôtel des Troupes de Montagne, at the place where Albert de Seguin de Reyniès was arrested. The plaque is located on the right side of the facade of the building.
