Perimeter Route Marker 14: De Westerbouwing

This is a marker of the Perimeter Route. On this route you walk in the footsteps of the Allies who tried to liberate this region in September 1944. Follow the route and discover not only impressive locations and historical events, but also personal stories from civilians and soldiers who were present at these places during the Battle of Arnhem.

The high ground of the Westerbouwing was heavily attacked by German troops. The British could not stop the attacks and lost the strategic point.
