Memorial Captain Grieve VC
Memorial plaque for the Australian Captain GRIEVE of the 37th Battalion AIF on the market square of Messines.
His action near the current military cemetery Bethleem East Cemetery near Messines during the battle were a testimonial of enormous courage. He was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest military distinction for soldiers from Great Britain and the Commonwealth.
This memorial plaque was unveiled on 9 July 2023.
