Memorial Maj. Gen. Colin Barber

Plaque in memory of Major General Colin Muir Barber, officer of the 15th Scottish Infantry Division, who took part in the liberation of Tourville. When the 15th Scottish Infantry Division landed in Normandy, Brigadier General Barber commanded the 46th Highland Infantry Brigade. When Major General Gordon MacMillan was wounded during Operation Bluecoat on 3 August, Major General Barber was promoted and given command of the division. He led his troops to final victory. Lieutenant General Barber died in 1964. The plaque was inaugurated on 11 November 1965, a Scottish pine tree was planted nearby by Lady Barber.
