Sea Tunnel - Šibenik

This sea tunnel is located on the St. Anthony Canal which connects the town of Šibenik with the Adriatic Sea. The sea tunnel was built by the Italian army in the period 1941 - 1942. Nevertheless, the sea tunnel is popularly called "Hitler's eye".

The sea tunnel, which is 200 meters long, was used by the Italian and German navies as a shelter and also to avoid any minefields that might be laid in the canal by the Allies.

After the Second World War, the Yugoslav Navy put the sea tunnel into use.
