War Memorial Mellier

The memorial for the victims of the First World War hangs at the church of St. Peter and Paul.

At the top is the coat of arms of Belgium.
Below that are the names of those who died.

"Their death will not have been in vain if you follow the laws of honor,
knows how to understand RELIGION AND COUNTRY.
In memory of our brave children fallen on the field of honor.

LAMBERT René, soldier 10th Line,
killed in the fort of Marchovelette on August 23, 1914 at the age of 24 years.
MEUNIER Joseph, soldier 10th Line,
killed in Diksmuide on May 4, 1916 at the age of 26 years.
de GERADON Georges, volunteer in the Belgian army,
killed in Pervijze on March 18, 1918, at the age of 21 years.
BERGUET Augustin, captain 14th Line,
killed in St.Joris (Nieuwpoort) on October 24, 1914, at the age of 37 years."
