German Cemetery Rumaucourt

This cemetery was created in the autumn of 1916 after several field hospitals were established in Rumaucourt as a result of the British summer offensive in the region around Bapaume. It was in use until September 1918.

The dead from the hospital were added first, followed by the deaths of the Easter battles of Arras in April 1917 and those of the tank battle of Cambrai in November 1917.
The dead of the German counter-attacks of December 1917 and also more than 600 of the German Spring Offensive and the rearguard battles of August/September 1918.
In 1924, the cemetery was expanded by the French administration to accommodate 1,000 fallen soldiers from 8 surrounding municipalities.

Currently, 2,615 German and 2 fallen soldiers from the Austro-Hungarian Empire are buried there.
They are buried in pairs, with the exception of the 6 Jewish fallen who are buried under an individual stele.

At the center is a memorial monument in pink granite.
