War Memorial for the Alpini Dronero

In Piazza Allemandi, with the mountains in the background, stands the monument to the Alpini, dedicated to the many valley residents who never returned from the Great War.
On a cube-shaped stone pedestal with the inscription in copper letters: "So that your sacrifice has not been in vain" stands a bronze statue of an Alpine soldier with a rifle in a resting position.

At the foot of the monument is a bronze plaque with several sentences from war bulletin No. 935 of the High Command of the Val Maira Alpine Battalion of December 15, 1917.

During the First World War, the 2nd Alpini regiment consisted of ten battalions, including one in Dronero and Val Maira. It fought heavy fighting in the Italian Alpine regions against Austro-Hungarian and German forces. Extreme losses were suffered.

Next to the statue dedicated to the Alpini is a simple stone with an inscription and two copper plates.

Engraved on the stone:
"Dronero
To the fallen without a cross
12-10-2014 "
On the copper plates:
"The municipal Alpini group"
