Hiding Place Nieuwe Kerk

At the end of 1943, young men were forced to work in the war industry and the Germans held raids to round up their workers. At that moment, a number of young men from Ermelo decided to go into hiding. Reverend Kruishoop advised the boys to crawl through the coal cellar through the corridors under the pulpit and to build a cave under the church. A few rugs were attached in such a way that an enclosure was created.
