Greek Graves Civilians Massacre Kalavryta

The cemetery contains a number of graves of the victims of the Kalavryta massacre.
On December 13, 1943, all men and boys over the age of 14 from Kalavryta were shot dead by the Germans in reprisal for the killing of 81 captured German soldiers by Greek partisans. The village was also burned down.

696 men and boys were shot by machine guns. Only 13 men survived the massacre.
