Memorial to the Fallen Heroes of the Battle of Mojkovac

Just outside Mojkovac is a monument commemorating fallen heroes of the Battle of Mojkovac in 1916.

During World War I, Montenegro fought side by side with Serbia. The Battle of Mojkovac fought between the armies of Austria-Hungary under the command of Major General Reinöhl and those of the Kingdom of Montenegro under General Janko Vukotić between 6 and 7 January 1916. The aim was to repel the Austro-Hungarian attacks and thus protect the retreat of Serbian forces towards Albania. The battle ended with a decisive Montenegrin victory but in the end Montenegro had to surrender.

At the monument, there is an information board explaining the times of the past.
