Belgian War Graves Martelange

Martelange cemetery contains war graves from the Second World War.

Nicolas SCHMITZ, born in Beho on November 1, 1916.
He was a soldier with the 3rd Ardennes Hunters 2nd Bat 5th Comp
He died for his country in Temploux on May 12, 1940. He died at a rest cantonment on his way to take up a position on the Wavre - Gembloux - Namur line.
The resting soldiers were spotted from the air by the German Luftwaffe and attacked en masse.

Paul HARLANGE, died for his country in Mans on February 10, 1945. He was 32 years old.

Martin-Arsène TIBOR, born in Martelange on June 25, 1912.
He was a first sergeant with the 1st Ardennes Hunters 1st Bat 2nd Comp
He was hit by a bullet during the fighting for Vinkt. Died of his wounds for his country on May 27, 1940 in the hospital in Ruiselede.
He was initially buried there, but in August 1945 he was reburied in his native village of Martelange.

Josée BERG, 17 years old, fell on December 21, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge.
