Belgian War Graves Soy

The cemetery contains three war graves from the Second World War.

WEIGERT Joseph, died as a result of his deportation.

ETIENNE Vital, born in Hotton on April 18, 1925, resistance fighter.
BORREMANS Nestor, born in Soy on June 28, 1920. Member of the resistance after being released from compulsory labor in Germany in April 1943

Both were members of the MNB resistance group (Belgian National Movement) in the Marcourt sector. They were arrested in Devantave on September 6, 1944 by SS troops while carrying mail and on a mission as a resistance scout. After an interrogation and a trial, they were shot dead together on September 6, 1944
They were buried next to each other in the cemetery in Soy.
