This memorial, located on the grounds of the 45th Infantry Division Museum, commemorates all the soldiers who fought in the 157th Infantry Regiment, part of the 45th Infantry Division. The 157th was a unit of the Colorado National Guard. It also commemorates Ernest Childers, a second lieutenant in Oliveto, Italy, for his actions in destroying two snipers and two machine gun nests, and capturing a German artillery observer. He was a Native American and the first person to earn a Military Order of Honor after the Indian Wars.
