Vliegbasis Palaly

During World War II, the British RAF built an airfield at Palaly, Northern Ceylon, with a runway of approximately 2,000 metres. Several RAF squadrons and rescue units were stationed here. After the war, the airfield was abandoned and turned over to civil aviation. The airfield is now called Jaffna International Airport.
