MI5 HQ Thames House

Thames House is a Grade II listed building in Westminster, London, and serves as the headquarters of MI5, the UK's domestic counter-intelligence and security agency

Built between 1929 and 1930 and designed by Sir Frank Baines. Originally used by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and other tenants.

From 1937 to 1939 it served as HQ of MI5 for the first time with extending offices in Horseferry Road. During World War II, Thames House served as an air raid shelter, offering refuge to local residents

It was later again acquired by the government and, after extensive refurbishments, officially became MI5's headquarters in 1994 under Prime Minister Sir John Major. MI5 modified the building to fit its operational needs with modern IT systems and security measures.
