Holocaust Memorial Gibraltar

This monument in the form of a boulder with plaque bearing a text by German resistance fighter Rev Niemöller commemorates the victims of the Holocaust.

The text reads:
'First they came for the Communists and I did not speak out
Because I was not a communist
Then they came for the the Socialists and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came fot the the Jews and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out
Because I was not a union member,
Then they came for me and then there was no one left to speak out for me'

The memorial was unveiled on Holocaust Memorial Day 27 January 2015.
