Battle of Valparaiso

The Battle of Valparaiso took place on 28th March 1814 off the coast of Valparaiso, Chile. The frigate U.S.S. Essex and sloop U.S.S. Essex Junior were attacked and beaten by the British frigate H.M.S. Phoebe and sloop H.M.S. Cherub, Both the American ships were captured with 58 men killed and 60 wounded.
