Warmonument Bovigny

Monument at the Saint-Martin church in Bovigny.

This monument commemorates the fallen of the 1st and 2nd World Wars.

Next to the monument is a mortar.

Commemorated 1940-1945

CLOTUCHE Joseph, age 31, from Bovigny, lieutenant in the 3rd Ardennes Hunters regiment, died of wounds in military hospital number 9 at Etterbeek on May 17, 1940.

GUILLAUME Hubert, age 23, from Bovigny, adjutant in the 6th regiment Ardennes Hunters, killed at Gottem on May 26, 1940.

BEAUPAIN Gerard, age 23, from Bovigny, soldier with the 6th Ardennes Hunters regiment, killed on the impact of a grenade at Tielt on May 25, 1940.

JACOB Julien, age 25, from Bovigny, brigadier with the gendarmerie, killed on May 18, 1940 at Wolvertem.

JACQUET Fernand, age 24, from Bovigny, soldier with the 3rd Regiment Ardense Jagers, killed in action by the impact of a grenade on May 16, 1940 at St. Vith.

PAULIS Jean, age 31, born in Bovigny, guard of the gendarmerie, during the war a resistance fighter with the Frond Independant (F.I.), executed by the German army on August 30, 1944 in Villers-Sainte-Gertrude.


Remembered 1914-1918

WILLOT Albert, age 22, from Remagne, soldier in the 13th Line Regiment, killed on October 19, 1914 at Keiem.

SOLHEID Hector, age 21, from Bovigny, soldier with the 6th lanciers regiment, killed in action on October 1, 1914 at Willebroek.

BEAUPAIN Alfred, age 32, born Bovigny, from Francorchamps, soldier with the 2nd caribiniers regiment, died of tering on June 10, 1916 at the Kensington and Chelsea hospital in London.

DEWALQUE Alphonse, age 21, from Bovigny, soldier with the 12th line regiment, killed in action at Londerzeel on September 29, 1914.

SERVATIUS Joseph, age 24, from Bovigny, corporal in the 13th linieregiment, died at the Belgian military hospital at Gravelines (France) on October 14, 1918 from wounds received. He is also commemorated on the monument near the church of Gouvy.


PIRARD Albert, age 23, from Bovigny, soldier with the 12th line regiment, died of lung and bladder tuberculosis at King Albert's Hospital No. 1 in London on September 30, 1916.

PIRARD Henri, age 21, from Bovigny, soldier with the 1st linieregiment, killed on November 10, 1914 at Diksmuide.

SCHMITZ Joseph, age 24, from Bovigny, soldier with the 10th linieregiment, died of wounds received in the hospital of Calais (France) on October 25, 1914.
AUGUSTIN Louis, age 26, from Bovigny, adjutant in the 12th Line Regiment, killed in the trenches at Kaaskerke on October 2, 1915.

GRANDJEAN Joseph, age 26, from Bovigny, sergeant in the 4th artillery regiment, 72nd battalion, 75 mm rapid-fire guns, killed by a shell hit on November 30, 1917 at Merkem.

DEPIERREUX Leon, age 32, from Bovigny, soldier in the transport corps of the 5th army division, died of tuberculosis at Erquelinnes on September 22, 1914.
