Lost Villa Bernières-sur-Mer

A villa stood on this site before the war which was demolished because of the Atlantic Wall. The sign contains the following text:

In January 1943, the Feldkommandantur (German unit N° 43019C) gave the order to destroy La Cassine, a house the village was proud of, which had been immortalized by the painter P. E. Berthélémy, and already occupied for military purposes.
