Cenotaph Jamestown

The Cenotaph was unveiled in 1928 to commemorate those Saint Helenians who died in WW1. The plaque was amended to add those that died in WW2.

A plaque has been added to the Jamestown Cenotaph to commemorate the 41 men who died aboard the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Darkdale on the 22nd October 1941 after being torpedoed by U-68 in James Bay, Saint Helena, within site of the Cenotaph. Only the Captain and 6 others who were ashore at the time survived.
