Along a forest path stands a memorial for Ludwig Siebertz.
His story is told on an information board.
Ludwig Siebertz was born on September 25, 1908 in Eicherscheid, was married and had two children. He was called up for military service on December 12, 1942. At the end of the war, on July 5, 1945, he returned from captivity. His house and farm had burned down completely, there was no more livestock.
On August 15, 1945, Siebertz was on his way to Hammer to get wood to rebuild his house, stable and barn. He died tragically when a landmine exploded. He left behind his pregnant wife, together with their two children and a mentally handicapped brother-in-law who lived with the family.
A wooden cross was placed in memory at the location where he died on August 15, 1945.
