Chapel of Our Lady of Peace Smetlede
The chapel for Our Lady of Peace was built in 1947 by order of the Alfons De Gendt-Peynsaert family.
When the Second World War broke out, the family had three sons. The mother promised Our Lady to build a chapel for her if the three sons returned from the war unharmed. Her prayer was answered and after the war the chapel was built as promised.
