Memorial Anniversary marking 50 years start of the German Occupation of France

This monument, in the form of a bronze plaque dedicated to Free France and the Resistance, commemorates the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the German occupation and liberation on 18 June 1940.

The plaque bears the inscription:

(Because they suffered the most, because they were at the forefront of the fight for France, the people of Alsace and Lorraine have never been closer to the heart of the nation)
Charles de Gaulle 1890-1970.
