Cecil Pashley Tribute

Cox Marine, in Unit 8 of Brighton City Airport, have named their hangar after Cecil Pashley. The Airport (also known as Shoreham Airport) is served by Cecil Pashley Way.
Cecil Lawrence Pashley MBE AFC (14 May 1891-10 Dec 1969) was a pioneer of British Aviation. He learnt to fly in 1908 and with his brother Eric set up a flight training school at Shoreham Airport. Both of his brothers died in WW1, Herbert, a 2nd Lt was an observation balloon officer and died on Christmas day 1916 and Eric died in a flying accident whilst in an Airco DH2 with 24 Sqdn in 1917.
Cecil trained around 1600 pilots in both World Wars, logging 18.900 flying hours right up to the early days of jet aviation. He had been commissioned into the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve at the outbreak of WW2 and was awarded the Air Force Cross in 1944.
