For several years Miranda continued to travel through Europe, without settling anywhere. In France he became friends with the Girondins Jacques Pierre Brissot and Jérôme Pétion de Villeneuve. He served briefly as a general in the French army, which led him to be involved in battles for the Southern Netherlands under the command of Charles-François Dumouriez in 1792. Among other things, he captured Roermond for the French in December 1792. It is thanks to this period that the name of Francisco de Miranda is also found among the 558 names of important generals at the time of the revolutionary battles engraved in the Arc de Triomphe.
The monument also contains a memento of a Captain from Venezuela who died in September 1918.
