"General Charles Gordon
This window shows General Gordon who was baptized in this church. Gordon became a national hero for his role in defeating an uprising in China in the 1860s. In the 1880s, he tried to help the city of Khartoum in Sudan when it was attacked by rebel forces. He was killed by the rebels when they broke into the city."

General Gordon joined the British Army in 1852 and served in the Crimean War, Second Opium War, Taiping Rebellion and Mahhdist Wars
