At the bridge over the small river ‘Le Hoyoux’ near Émines, two so-called ‘bornes Cointet’ have been installed.
They are heavy concrete and steel posts that are anchored up to 2 meters into the ground.
They date from before World War II and are part of the defensive works of La Position Fortifiée de Namur (PFN). A steel cable could be stretched between the two posts (see photo 2), with or without an obstacle such as a ‘Spanish horseman’, in order to slow down the enemy, particularly vehicles, in their advance.
