Sea Mine Memorial Bergen

The Minebøssen monument on the quay in Bergen commemorates the Norwegian sailors who lost their lives during the First World War. It consists of a sea mine on a pedestal with reliefs and was designed by the artist Sofus Madsen. It was inaugurated on 6 February 1921 and, in addition to commemorating the dead, had a secondary purpose, namely to raise money for their surviving relatives.
