Memorial Great Eastern Railway

"TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THSE MEMBERS OF THE/ GREAT EASTERN RAILWAY STAFF WHO, IN RESPONSE TO THE CALL OF THEIR/ KING AND COUNTRY, SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES DURING THE GREAT WAR/ (NAMES)/ 1914-1919"

The memorial was unveiled on 22 June 1922 by Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson Bart, GCB, who was assassinated by the IRA later that night. The memorial was repositioned in the 1990's with the memorials to Captain Fryatt and Field Marshal Wilson being incorporated.
