Monument to the Soviet Russian Second Guards Tank Army Drögen

These two monuments, located close to each other along the road between the hamlet of Drögen and Fürstenberg a/d Havel, commemorate the achievements of the 2nd Soviet Russian Second Guards Tank Army during World War II. The monuments consist of concrete panels featuring text and images.

The first monument contains texts such as: (freely translated)
“You cannot defend the fatherland without the great heroism of the people who courageously carry out the great economic changes” V.I. Lenin.
“Plans of the party - plans of the people”.
“The Soviet people know that where the party is, there is success, there is victory”.

The second monument features images of Soviet soldiers, a map showing the army's advance from Russia to Berlin, and the battles in which it was involved between 1941 and 1945.

After the German surrender, the 2nd Guards Tank Army remained stationed in Fürstenberg throughout the entire GDR period, which is probably why there are so many aged Soviet monuments in this region.
