Bunker BM 31 at Limoy

This is bunker BM-31. The initials BM refer to ‘Bâtiment Militaire’, which translates to military building. The bunker is located in the ‘Meuse amont-Meuse aval’ sector. This bunker is located between Fort Maizeret and Fort Andoy in La Position Fortifiée de Namur (PFN).

This bunker has two gun rooms and was equipped with a Guet-type observation dome. For an example of a bunker with a dome of this type, see bunker MN-18 te Saint-Jean-Sart uit La Position Fortifiée de Liège (PFL).

When the bunkers lost their strategic value for the defense of Belgium after the war, all of them were stripped of metal and sold as scrap. In most cases, the turrets were removed in a rather rough manner. This was also the case with this bunker. Debris from the removal process still lies in the bunker as testimony of what once was.
