Katharo plateau

Katharo is a plateau on the Dikti Mountains on the island of Crete. During World War II, several SOE agents parachuted here, including Patrick Leigh Fermor on February 4, 1944. His mission: to kidnap the German General Kreipe. He made contact with co-agent Sandy Rendel and went to a nearby cave (popularly known as the "Spiliaou ton Anglikon," or "the Englishmen's cave").
