Monument to the fallen Airmen Gardo

This monument honours the aircraft crews who lost their lives during the Second World War. It consists of a boulder with an aircraft propeller recovered from the Adriatic Sea. A plaque has been placed next to the monument with the following inscription:

'Monumento realizzato con i resti dell elica appartenutta al B24 Liberator dell 449th Bomb Group statunni tense precipato nella Laguna di Grado, Domenica 30 Gennaio 1944 - Il resti sono stati ritrovati il 22 Luglio 2003'

(Monument made with the remains of the propeller belonging to the B24 Liberator of the 449th US Bomb Group that crashed into the Grado Lagoon on Sunday, 30 January 1944 - The remains were found on 22 July 2003)
