Between the church and the presbytery in Ernage a military cemetery was created for the French victims of the fighting between French and German troops in May 1940 (Battle of Gembloux).
This cemetery contained 71 graves and was cleared at the end of the 1960s, when the French government created a military cemetery in Chastre for the graves scattered in the surrounding area.
