After the occupation of Yugoslavia in April 1941, he actively participated in preparations for an armed uprising. In July 1941, he took part in the Trinaestojul uprising, where he distinguished himself in the battle at Obzovica.
He joined the Lovćenski Battalion, which, as part of the Montenegrin-Sandžak Partisan Army, took part in the attack on Pljevlja on December 1, 1941. During this battle, he was in a group that managed to break through to the center but was then surrounded. It was not until the next day that he and his comrades managed to withdraw from the city under heavy fighting and with heavy losses. After the battle at Lisina on December 4, he lost contact with his battalion. On December 24, with a group of friends, he managed to find his comrades in the village of Međenju in eastern Bosnia, who had joined the First Lovćenski Battalion of the newly formed First Proletarian Shock Brigade.
He took part in the march through Romanija and Igman, in the battles at Sinjajevina, Konjic, Bugojno, Livno, and Jajce, and in the battles around Prnjavor and Teslić. During the battle for Ulog in early 1942, he led a group of bombers that destroyed several enemy bunkers and helped the brigade advance further. During the battles for Livno in 1942, he again performed several heroic deeds with his bombers.
He was killed in action on April 3, 1944, during an attack not far from Mrkonjić Grad.
