Muzeon Jewish Museum Cluj-Napoca

Muzeon is a complex encounter with the history of the Jewish population of Cluj. Beginning at the start of the 20th century and ending in the present day, Muzeon tells the life stories of three different people: Julia, Paul and David, in six different languages: Romanian, English, Hungarian, Hebrew, French and Spanish.

Using dramatised audio guides, developed in 2020 based on true stories, Muzeon manages to create a unique and meaningful connection between the narrator and the visitor. By humanising history, it teaches people about the past without requiring any effort on their part.

The story of the exhibition is based on a family history, the Lusztig family. The Lusztigs' roots can be traced back to a small Transylvanian village: Chichișa. At the end of the 19th century, they moved to a village near Cluj, and later to the city, where the Lusztig family flourished. At the Muzeon, visitors have the opportunity to learn about the history of the Jewish community in Cluj through the history of the Lusztig family. The audio guides accompanying the exhibition are based on three family members, each with their own life story.
