Memorial Verrières Ridge

A plaque hangs on the church in memory of the fierce battle fought by the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, 2nd Canadian Division during the Battle of Verrières Ridge. The battle took place between July 19 and July 15, 1944. There were 200 casualties, 53 of which were fatal. The Verrières ridge was finally captured during Operation Totalise on August 7, 1944.
