Memorial Dachsen

At Schloss Laufen, overlooking the Rhine Falls, Europe's largest waterfall, a plaque hangs on one of the battlements with the inscription:
"During two world wars, our army watched over our homeland.
While blood flowed around us, our highest values remained intact.
This stone commemorates the gratitude of the Swiss people.
Erected by the government of the canton of Zurich in November 1950."
