Poole Harbour

During World War II, Poole harbor played a vital role as a location for secret maritime operations and training. The harbor was used by the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and Combined Operations to prepare clandestine missions, including training agents in night landings, navigation, and sabotage. Poole also served as a base for various secret operations into occupied Europe, including missions to the French coast. Its strategic location, sheltered waters, and proximity to the English Channel made Poole an ideal launching point for small vessels such as motor launches and folbots (collapsible canoes) used for reconnaissance and infiltration.
