Oflag VII-B

Oflag VII-B was a German WWII POW camp for Allied officers in Eichstätt, Bavaria. It opened in 1939, initially holding Polish officers, then British, French, and Commonwealth troops captured in various campaigns. In 1943, 65 officers escaped through a tunnel but were all recaptured. As U.S. forces neared in April 1945, prisoners were evacuated; a mistaken air attack killed 14 British officers. The camp was liberated shortly after.

Today, the site houses a Bavarian police training center.
