Memorial Operation Anthropoid

Operation Anthropoid was the code-name for the assassination of one of the most important Nazis, Reinhard Heydrich. The assassination was prepared by the Allied and done by two Czechoslovakians who landed by parachute three months earlier, Jozef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš. Heydrich was severily wounded and died several days later.

As reprisal measurement, the village of Lidice was completely destroyed and 13,000 people were arrested in the hunt for the offenders. Many arrested people also died.
