Memorial Louis Pacchiotti and Alphonse Renaville

Monument to two members of the Front de l'Independance resistance group who were shot here on September 9, 1944, by the German army.

PACCIOTTI Louis, age 20, born in Esneux, is buried in the cemetery of Comblain-la-Tour in a family grave where a fallen American soldier.

RENAVAILLE Alphonse, age 20, born in Oneux (Comblain-la-Tour), is buried in a family grave in the cemetery of Comblain-la-Tour. (photo 5 in the reference)

It is worth noting that the liberation of this region was underway. The American army was about to liberate the city of Liège. Members of various resistance groups took action in anticipation of the imminent liberation, including these two young men.
