Memorial Forceds Laberours Lippendorf Neukieritzsch

This monument in the shape of a boulder commemorates specifically the young men from Beverwijk and Velsen-Noord, but also from other places, who were forced to perform hard labour here in 1944 and 1945 under appalling conditions.

The plaque affixed to the boulder bears the following text:
“In memory of the forced labourers”
'During the raid in Beverwijk/Velsen-Noord on 16 April 1944, 486 young men were arrested by the Nazis and deported as forced labourers. From July 1944 to April 1945, 96 of them and hundreds of other Dutch victims suffered in the ArbeitzErziehungsLagers (AEL) “Höhensonne”, on the De Kippe waste mountain and in and around the “Alpenrose” camp in Peres. 102 Dutch prisoners did not survive'.
