Memorial 'Robert Capa in Sperlinga'

This memorial commemorates the famous American war photographer Robert Capa. It was here that he took the photograph showing a Sicilian farmer pointing out to an American soldier the direction in which the Germans had left. The photograph, considered one of Capa's most iconic, was taken in July or August 1943 during the Battle of Troina and published in Time Magazine at the time.

In the nearby town of Troina, there is a museum dedicated to Capa's work in Sicily.
